imos to unveil new digital solutions at Holz-Handwerk 2020

 Monday, February 24, 2020

imos is gearing up to introduce new digital solutions at the Holz-Handwerk 2020. The brand is working paperless in the digital workshop at the Holz-Handwerk 2020 in Nuremberg. imos has improved the functionality and handling of the furniture and interior design software from Herford in many points. A new digital tool that displays design data and production information in the workshop or on-site installation on conventional tablets is making its debut, paving the way for paperless working.        In the future, operators of online sales systems of the iX NET product line can enable their prospective potential buyers and customers to enjoy the online shopping experience on tablet and smartphone. The new responsive web design makes this possible.

Digital order assistant iX Share for workshop and installation

Companies are confronted with increasing efforts in the creation and updating of reliable order documents. Queries from production or from installation on the construction site are time-consuming and changes are difficult to keep up to datewith printed documents used. imos has developed a digital assistant which shows the information and data of individual orders including all design details on standard tablets at any time, if these have previously been loaded into the iX Cloud by the order preparation department.

Especially worth mentioning is the integrated 3D viewer, which allows to view, zoom or measure the furniture designs created with iX CAD on the tablet in their entirety. This way details can be reliably compared with the situation on site and change requests can be communicated quickly and easily via an integrated chat function of the order preparation. The intuitively designed user interface is optimized for tablet operation and is almost self-explanatory. The application is web-based and can be started via a special app offered in Android and Apple stores.  The digital assistant structures and accelerates the exchange of information between order preparation, workshop and installation, resulting in more efficient and secure processing of set-up orders.

Manually adapt generated NC programs

One of the main functions of imos iX is – as is generally known – the automatic generation of NC programs for the common woodworking machines. With the new iX CAM Edit add-on, these can be subsequently modified if necessary. In this way the NC program generated with iX CAM can be opened, visualized and, if necessary, adapted in iX CAD 2019 without having to change the CAM machining rules. If, for example, the size of a cutout for a purchased part subsequently changes during the current order process, work preparation can correct the program for this individual order only.

This module of a tool simulation can also be used to track and check the exact direction of machining. The work preparation department can check the output independently of the machine and, if necessary, make order-specific changes.

Create individual designscomfortably

Designers can look forward to shorter work steps and improved intelligent design aids that further simplify and accelerate their daily work with iX CAD. In addition to improvements in the cut dialog and cut-out articles, the automatic drawing output has gained particular comfort: It allows the designer to export all his drawings with just one click.

Introduction of the QR Code principle

The barcode supported so far is very limited in its number of characters. Much more information can be accommodated in the QR Codes, which are now integrated in iX CAD 2019. The QR Code not only allows the complete workflow of a part to be recorded, but also practical additions such as website links as an additional source of information on articles in an article list.

New VR interface iX VR Link

imos offers an interface via iX VR Link for which planning can be easily implemented in VR.Starting from iX PLAN or iX CAD, finished plans or even prototypes can be visualized impressively. Presentation documents can be created directly from VR as well as photos, renderings and panoramic images. Additional objects are easily inserted and animated via drag and drop – moving people, flickering candles or running water. Light and shadow settings, which can be interactively changed via the position of the sun, further enhance the real impression. Video sequences like a walk through the scene show the planning environment as in real life and can be exported and shared.

Order individually planned furniture online and mobile at any time

Operators of the web-based planning and sales application iX NET benefit from optimizations in mobile output and in terms of user-friendliness for their customers. The new responsive web design extends online shopping to the mobile devices tablet and smartphone. Furniture can then be conveniently purchased online at any time and from anywhere. The user interface is intuitive and in the new version even more user-friendly, so that the customer is guided through the shop in a targeted and simple manner. Even customers with little or no previous knowledge can easily configure and order furniture on the move.

imos at the Holz-Handwerk

Visitors at theHolz-Handwerk can do their own furniture planning in VR from 18 to 21 March 2020 in Nuremberg and experience in the live presentation how furniture production is transformed into a digital workshop with iX Share. In addition, the product managers will present the other digital manufacturing solutions and the new version of iX 2019.
