All experts of the Swiss woodworking industry will gather together for five days at the international fair Holz Basel that will take place from October 11 to 15, 2016 at Messe Basel, Switzerland. Around 350 domestic and foreign exhibitors will present their innovative products and services in the fields of machinery, tools, materials and accessories. The show is expected to have 34,000 joiners and carpenters as well as professionals from the fields of interior design, wood construction, industry and trade.
Some of the highlights to look for at this year’s Holz Basel will be:
Future Wood: New technologies, designs and materials
The special area future wood combines innovations and trends in materials design with innovations in woodworking and carpentry industry and the timber. Everything that moves the industry towards the future will be found here.
Visitors can look for special features in the material design and different materials such as stone, glass, metal, plastic or cork. It will showcase new technologies for indoor. Outside wood will be featured as facade structures, innovative wooden structures, paints and varnishes. The special area will be complemented by an attractive Networking Zone with Bistro for animated discussions and relaxed snack breaks.
The exhibition of the Prix Lignum 2015 showing the three extra-neatest Holzbauten Switzerland and all the winners of the respective large region, is also part of the Future Wood.
Innovation Forum
The forum will include exciting technical presentations, interactive talks and panel discussions with distinguished guests. The Networking Zone with diverse catering options and the welcoming hosts Lounge provide the perfect setting.
As a strategic partner for education, research and innovation, the Bern University of Applied Sciences Architecture, Wood and Civil supplies the high quality content for the Innovation Forum.
European Championships for Carpenters
Holz Basel 2016 is also the venue for the 12th European Championships for Carpenters. Over 30 candidates from 10 nations will compete on the spot for gold, silver and bronze.the international event promises to be a cutting-edge and high-event.
The Pavilion of Fagus Jura AG
Vivistors will get a chance to admire the book pavilion of architect Hermann Blumer and bbk architects Basel / Zurich. The elegant seven-meter high pavilion, whose structure and stairs are made of Swiss beech, enjoys a lightness and elegance. Thanks to the high strength of the wood, it is very stable and the supporting structure is made without steel structure.
