Greda will have a ‘new phase’ at LIGNA

 Thursday, May 4, 2017

unnamed“This Ligna will be very important for us: we closed 2016 with positive results and the trend continued in the first months of 2017. In Hanover, we are exhibiting a range of working centers with significant enhancements, more effective, more automated, smarter more “Industry 4.0”! Attending so many exhibitions around the world, we have seen that our solutions are appreciated by many, and this was the starting point for the reorganization we have undertaken, also involving our sales operations. So, more than ever, we are ready to look ahead!”. You can feel excitement in the words by Marianna Daschini, CEO of Greda, an established leader in the production of special, tailor-made working centers“ “machines that are increasingly deployed also in other industries, from aerospace to automotive”, she adds.

LIGNA
At Ligna, the Italian company is setting up a 150-square-meter booth to display its flagship products, which have been entirely redesigned as evidence of the high technological standards  constantly offered by the company and their determination to pursue clear goals: “Working centers with superior performance, to reduce downtime dramatically, as that’s what the a market is looking for: machines that are smarter, connected to the entire “enterprise ecosystem” and capable of working unattended, with automated loading and unloading systems. So, not just higher productivity with identical quality, but also controlled and controllable costs”, adds Piero Daschini, co-owner of Greda.

Three machines will be under the spotlights in Hanover – “Diva”, “Mitika V” and “Poker V” – all sharing the same “Industry 4.0” capabilities, including the possibility to interact with other working centers, software and production controls.

The presentation of the new “Diva” will be a world premiere, a working center with 5 interpolated axes that can bore, mortise, tenon, mill, finger-joint and route on five workpiece faces; a perfect solution both for small batches and for large volumes, thanks to the possibility to add automatic loading and unloading systems. A machine with compact footprint, less than ten square meters, now equipped with highly versatile and intelligent worktables provided with self-positioning clamping systems.

Visitors will also find the 5-axis working center “Mitika V” and its 4-axis “brother” “Poker V”, both multifunctional machines to turn, mill, shape and sand solid wood parts in one cycle at high speed, also thanks to tool changers that work in “hidden time” and automatic loading/unloading systems. These machines have been renovated also in the construction, stiffened to provide adequate support to components taken from the mechanical industry, such as motors with absolute encoders for top precision, speed and finishing quality.

“We have revised our working centers in depth – Piero Daschini concludes – adopting more advanced components and focusing on the standardization of construction. Another new element for all three machines is the “GreCam” software, a new intelligent tool developed to optimize each process stage, starting from toolpaths, that will achieve utmost effectiveness.

“GreCam” is another “sign” of Greda’s new season, a more powerful and flexible software that will be installed on all machines, providing users with an easier tool to manage machine operation as well as to draw and design the workpiece and to simulate toolpaths and processing steps in 3D. As a result, the operator can continue to import instructions generated from other software and then “optimize” them on the machine, or use “GreCam”, a unique, flexible and easy-to-use platform, constantly evolving”.

A NEW SEASON
So, Greda is starting a new season, they are “changing skin”, and a new milestone is planned before the end of the year, namely moving into new premises: “The company is growing and we need new space to manage our operations the best we can and to meet ever increasing demand from many markets around the world”, Piero Daschini says.

LIGNA is just the first step of a new transition towards working centers with enhanced technology, better brand positioning in the global wood industry and in other sectors, from plastics to composites, from aluminum to light alloys, top quality working centers that can play a key role in all the industries where Greda has closed significant partnerships.

“We have launched an ambitious project, leveraging the results we have achieved in recent times”, Marianna Daschini says. “We are looking at the future with clear ideas, knowing very well which values we can offer and where we should focus our commitment. Difficult years are behind us and we have identified the best way to continue our growth: orders have increased, we have strengthened our global presence, we have approached countries we did not know. Also in view of this new, more international attitude, Ligna will be a valuable opportunity for us. That’s why we have launched a real “Ligna Project”: we will meet operators from all over the world and we have to show them our maturity and solutions that respond exactly to current market demands”.

“In this respect a key role was played by a more aggressive sales strategy, which has taken us, either directly or through our partners and resellers, to markets all over the world, from China to Russia, from the United States to Poland, from the Middle East to South America, up to Scandinavia and Northern Europe”. Concluded Marianna.
