German Logging Championship:the “Formula 1” of forestry skills

 Monday, February 25, 2019

The German Logging Championship, the “Formula 1″ of forestry skills at LIGNA with a very high-powered chainsaw for wood log cutting into desired precision and at a high speed in LIGNA, scheduled from May 27 to 31 in Hannover. The German Logging Championship this year aims at improving the performance of forestry workers by introducing advanced high-powered chainsaw to cut logs efficiently within a short time. The German Logging Championship is scheduled in every two years.

The key lumberjacks, as well as the forestry experts from different parts of Germany will experience the new range of log cutting saw at the event. Plenty of visitors at LIGNA will get a scope to check out the new range of the device. In LIGNA 2019, more than 100 participants will explore the new innovations and test their performance cutting, precision, speed to understand the device’s performance in five main discipline, namely tree felling, precision bucking, chain fitting, combined cut bucking and delimbing. At the fair, the demonstration of handling the tools will be maintained in absolute safety, safety and accuracy.

Highlights of the German Logging Championship will include a demonstration of tree-felling at the event. The organisers have decided to create a mock tree-felling scenario for the visitors. In the demo, an 18-meter tall logs were arranged on the ground for cutting 1.5 meter deep holes. The re-creation of a forest like environment supported acts of felling tree trunks like real life sites. 150 metric tons of sand was spread in three acres to create a cushion to absorb the thud of felling logs and also restricting from shattering on the ground while hitting. After the tree felling event, the programme will continue with delimbing contest where every participant will be engaged to cut 30 uniform-thickness branches. This practice will improve speed and accuracy in cutting. “While tree felling is the most important of the five disciplines, delimbing is probably the most spectacular,” said VWMD (German Woodsmen’s Championships Association) President Wolfgang Junglas.

The sponsors of the event German Logging Championship include Husqvarna, Pfanner, STIHL, Aspen, and Zeller+Gmelin(Divinol). They will have individual stands placed at the competition area within the themed ‘avenues’ around the outdoor forestry demonstration area. At the themed demonstrated area the exhibitors could easily stage live demonstration of their forestry technology solutions. This year also the event is jointly organised by the German Forestry Council (KFW) and Deutsche Messe.
