EGGER wins two awards at the German Design Award

 Saturday, November 12, 2016

germanThe wood-based materials manufacturer EGGER wins two awards at the German Design Award 2017 from a total of 4000 submissions. The Doppia Black-Gold furniture edge F8982 and the new surface ST76 Matex Rough Matt will both be awarded the “Special Mention” in the category “Material and Surfaces” in Frankfurt on the February 10, 2017.

With its product innovations, EGGER creates trends that convince not only customers, but also important design bodies. Following the wood-based material manufacturer’s high performance last year, the international jury of experts at the German Design Award 2017 will give EGGER two further awards on the 10th February in Frankfurt. The Doppia Black-Gold furniture edge F8982 and the surface ST76 Matex Rough Matt will receive a “Special Mention” in the category “Material and Surfaces” at the German Design Award 2017. EGGER thus continues the success of PerfectSense Gloss and Matt lacquered boards, the collection EGGER Laminate Flooring 2017-2019, and the EGGER POS at the German Design Award 2016. “We see the ‘Special Mention’ as a recognition of our products, but also of our feel for trends, design, and innovation”, says Hubert Höglauer, Head of Marketing EGGER Group, referring to the recent awards.

The German Design Award grants “Special Mentions” to works that includes very good aspects or solutions – an award that honours the commitment of companies and designers.

Excellent furniture accent

With the Doppia PMMA Collection, EGGER reacts to the trend towards accents and contrasts in furniture design. The Doppia Black-Gold furniture edge F8982 is particularly suitable for upscale interior design, on furniture fronts, table tops, kitchen and bathroom furniture. Visual perfection is achieved thanks to its narrow joint. The edge is made of a high-quality, stable, and thermoplastic material (PMMA) and is by far the best material for creating striking effects. Its two-tone look creates an optimal colour transition to the surface of a black PerfectSense Matt lacquered board.

Suface novelty thrills jury of experts

EGGER has already won an award at the German Design Awards 2016 for PerfectSense, and its products impress once again in 2017. Matt looks can be increasingly seen in home and work areas, even on work surfaces. Matt in combination with stone is particularly popular, an EGGER responds to customers’ desires with the new surface texture ST76 Matex Rough Matt. It is modelled on a mottled and softly-brushed natural stone surface, and can be applied to numerous stone reproductions, including slate and marble looks.

The stage for unique design trends

The German Design Award is the international premium prize of the German Design Council. Its objective is to discover, present, and honour unique design trends. High-quality submissions for product and communication design that are pioneers in the international design landscape are again honoured in Frankfurt on the February 10, 2017.
