The European veneer mills, veneer producers and even the merchants continue to experience comparatively inadequate demand from the region. Unfortunately for them, the growth spree which was being experienced in the second quarter of the current year failed to sustain its effect and consequently dropped in many instances.
The traditional pick-up in order activity in the first few weeks after the summer holidays also failed to materialise for many companies this year. Even before purchasing was scaled back due to the holidays, leading buyers in the furniture industry, timber trade and door industry did not significantly increase their orders, apart from a brief recovery in the second quarter. Many veneer manufacturers and merchants continue to report dwindling sales in these sectors, too.
At the third European Veneer Forum, veneer will be positioned as an original material that cannot be copied despite all attempts at plagiarism, suitable for upmarket interior architects and designers, processors, specialist dealers and consumers
