With continuous investments in fundamental research, machining methods, development and product application in the field of carbide machining, CERATIZIT has made its next steps to success and opened a new production and office facility right in time for its 85th company anniversary with over 300 honoured guests in attendance, including His Royal Highness Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg, Secretary of State for the Economy Francine Closener and Research Minister Marc Hansen.
With an investment of 31.5 million euro in the so-called “Dippach” building, the tenth building expansion in Mamer since 1971, the size of the site has now been increased by a further 12,500 m2. With this expansion, the Group has broadened its research area by two and a half time.
With approximately 1,200 employees on a production floor totalling over 45,000 m2, Ceratizit Luxembourg, formerly Cerametal, is the cradle of the Ceratizit Group. Fundamental as well as analytical research for the entire Group is centralised here.
In his speech, board member and family successor Jacques Lanners expressed the significance of the site for the Group: “If I were to characterise Ceratizit with one word, I would say ‘glocal’. We have a familiar environment at our location here, we know the local markets and work hand in hand with our local customers. However,we are also global. The numbers show it: 6,000 employees, 840 million euros of sales worldwide.” In operating a total of 24 production sites and a sales network of over 50 branch offices, it shows that the company has long since established itself worldwide, according to Lanners.
