Ligna 2017 is the stage for all the latest innovations ready to be introduced by Cefla Finishing. It’s the chance for Cefla to showcase the results of our ongoing R&D activities which have led to solutions which respond to the demands of their customers and partners. It’s the moment of truth and they’d be thrilled to hear what their experienced visitors will have to say when they come to Hannover. In response to a huge variety of customer demands, just in time for Ligna 2017 they are about to launch countless innovations in all areas and regarding all technologies.
Products to start with: the first in line is the renewed range of Omnidry vertical ovens featuring a new technology (patent pending) enabling fully automatic management of variable load thicknesses in relation to the size of pieces and logistical requirements without stopping the drying process.
Cefla Finishing is also ready to explore Industry 4.0 with a series of innovative solutions which bring the physical and digital worlds together as one. Many of the Smart Factory solutions embrace the spirit of Industry 4.0 and aim at leveraging latest generation technologies to optimise production efficiency, customisation, supply chain management and in-service assistance. Everything is set for Ligna 2017.

Why is Industry 4.0 in the spotlight?
Defined as the 4th Industrial Revolution, the current trend in industrial automation named ‘Industry 4.0’ is far more than a mere evolution: today’s technological options were, actually, unimaginable before the end of the 20th century. Today, Smart Factories arouse considerable interest. The professionals and specialists concerned are carefully considering and experimenting with various domains, services and applications of cloud computing, sensing and robotic devices, but also mass data processes and machine and device connections. The Internet of Things is all around us and we can make the most of the diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and more generally, resource optimisation options available.
CPS: Cyber-physical systems
At the core of Industry 4.0 are cyber-physical systems, tightly integrated with IT systems and capable of mutual exchanges and interaction. In other words, thanks to Industry 4.0’s enabling factors, Cefla is able to connect the digital world and the real world, the world of machines and the world of people. In the industrial environment, we are faced with the so-called ‘Smart Factories’ – the first major step to be taken.
Smart Factory
A milestone for Smart Factories is the digitization process – i.e. hardware and software allowing for connection and interaction among machines in every step of the production process. In 2020, there will be more than one billion connected devices: this will mean an exponential mass of data, immediately available, which will open the way to multiple analysis options. The Smart Factory of the future will therefore be able to ideally combine the efficiency of mass production with the personalisation of specific customer needs. The most advanced simulation tools will also allow for increasingly realistic models and scenarios to be produced, and the resulting optimisation of resources will turn factories into efficient industry players. They will be able to benefit from real-time information and balance needs and available resources in an efficient manner.
cCloner: Imagine it. Do it.
Today, customers need a tool that allows for a realistic overview of the process before starting a production line. They need to check line logistics, assess loading and unloading stations, analyse the production flow and decide how to handle servicing operations.
cCloner allows 3D lines and machining processes to be configured, simulating them to be able to ensure in real time their compliance with production requirements and preventing inefficiencies. For example, simulation enables one to adjust parameters and prevent potential bottlenecks. It allows a person to reach an optimum level of efficiency – both to manage product changeovers and to process different batches. It also facilitates line starting operations, significantly reducing the time required.
cCloner is quick and realistic. It can simulate a sequence of work days and thanks to its library of 100 machines, recreated down to the smallest detail by applying mechatronics, cCloner stands ahead of similar simulators. Highly flexible and sophisticated, cCloner offers tangible, highly useful support for the development of the management logic of a single machine or a complete line.
cTracker: Look beyond the future
Multiple settings, constant monitoring of the line, collection and analysis of data related to productivity. These are some of the issues addressed by cTracker, the software that evaluates the effectiveness of the line in real time, analysing and communicating the necessary steps to increase its productivity.
It instantly provides the operator with a host of opportunities, minimising down times and constantly boosting overall production efficiency.
At power-up, the cTracker system displays a view of the line synoptic, with which the supervisor can interact to look into details of individual machines, as well as alarms, recipes, and so on. The user-friendly interface ensures traceability of machining details for each individual workpiece in the line.
The greatest advantage offered by cTracker is that it is one of the enabling factors of the Smart Contract.
cLink: Connect your data
Customers do not just need to track, monitor, and simulate. They also need to integrate data into their own management systems (ERP). cLink meets this requirement, filling the gap between ERP and cTracker so that data retain their value over time to optimise future workflows.
Industry 4.0 enhances the value of data. Through collection, storage and analysis, data become a vital asset and their integration and sharing facilitate progressive efficiency improvement of all the connected systems – even on a large scale.
